"As a compassionate Turquoise that doth tell
By looking pale, the wearer is not well"
(John Donne, 1572-1631)
You may find this quote in one of the great books by Kurt Vonnegut, "God Bless You Mr. Rosewater, or Pearls Before Swine".
Is there a grain of truth in that, who knows? You can check it yourself. However, I don’t wish anyone their stone to turn gradually pale, day by day. Even if there’s no such power in turquoises, Vonnegut’s books are my favourite; I daresay I love them more than others. Not only because they’re simply wonderful, but mainly for the fact that my happy relationship started with a quote from Vonnegut’s book.
“What is the purpose of life?” I asked such question to Grzesiek. Obviously, I didn’t get the right answer. The right answer to this difficult question was discovered only by Kilgore Trout, the character of the novel "Breakfast of Champions". And had he found anything to write with, even a burnt match, he’d have written it on the wall in a gentlemen’s toilet in one cinema in New York:
"To be
the eyes and ears
and conscience
of the Creator of the Universe,
you fool"
You may say this text was to be about me, not Vonnegut’s achievements. Let me get to the point – each day I try to be the eyes and ears and conscience of the Creator of the Universe.
Thanks to these very simple words, being read some twenty years ago, I’ve become more sensitive, open to the world around me. My sensitivity lets me be more imaginative and – create. So I create jewellery for you. The jewellery – I believe – unique...
My ideas strike me without warning, sometimes while dreaming.
What you can find in my store is handmade jewellery. I use only high quality materials: semi-precious stones and silver – often fine, of the highest, 999 standard (never silver-plated wire).
And those who want to read more about the stones should go to most categories. You won’t find there much of factual info, but rather a kind of poetry. All the descriptions have been adapted from the texts written especially for me by Jola Pokrywka, my soul mate from school. Aren’t they beautiful? I suppose this is the only jewellery store in the web which takes pride in poetic descriptions of the products... And the names of the items are to evoke memories and emotions as well. As they echo fascinating films, unforgettable books, haunting tunes…Hopefully, you’ll enjoy them – but this may be completely a separate story of yours…
Please, feel free to explore!
